Modeling of Cross Flow Classifier with Water Injection

چکیده
coarse product in the underflow. It is well known that injecting water in the conical part of the cyclone reduces the fine particle fraction in the underflow. This paper presents a mathematical model that simulates the water injection in the conical component. The model accounts for the fluid flow and the particle motion. Particle interaction, due to hindered settling caused by increased density and viscosity of the suspension, and fine particle entrainment by settling coarse particles are included in the model. Water injection in the conical part of the hydrocyclone is performed to reduce fine particle discharge in the underflow. The model demonstrates the impact of the injection rate, injection velocity, and injection location on the shape of the partition curve. The simulations are compared with experimental data of a 50-mm cyclone.

Modeling of Unsteady-State Cake Formation on a Fracture in Produced Water Re-Injection Process (PWRI)
In petroleum production, Produced Water Re-Injection (PWRI) has earned much interest among disposal methods of the produced water. However, presence of the contaminants in the produced waters usually results in formation damage in well bores and their surrounding fracture systems. In the present study, modeling of external cake formation on a fracture in unsteady-state conditions i...

Combining the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and the design of experiments (DOE) methods, as a mixed approach in modeling was proposed so that to simultaneously benefit from the advantages of both modeling methods. The presented method was validated using a coal hydraulic classifier in an industrial scale. Effects of operating parameters including feed flow rate, solid content and baffle le...
متن کاملModeling and Simulation of Alternative Injections of CO2 and Water into Porous Carbonate Formations
Water alternating gas (WAG) technique is used in the petroleum industry to inject carbon dioxide (CO2) into underground formations either for sequestration or enhanced oil recovery (EOR) processes. CO2 injection causes reactions with formation brine or aquifer and produces carbonic acid, the acid dissolves calcite and changes flow behavior significantly. Modeling and investigating effects of CO...
متن کاملSimulation of Subcooled Flow Boiling Occurring in Internal Combustion Engine Water Jacket by Numerical Modeling in a Channel with Hot Spot
Boiling heat transfer always has been proposed as a solution for enhancing heat transfer between the fluid and solid surfaces. Subcooled flow boiling is one of the mechanisms that occur in Internal Combustion Engine water jacket in which high amounts of heat is transferred. In this research, it has been tried to simulate subcooled flow boiling in a geometry similar to coolant channel inside the...
متن کاملModeling heat and mass transfer in laminar forced flow between parallel plates channel imposed to suction or injection
A numerical model is developed to simulate the transport phenomena in the flow channel between parallel plates with porous and non-porous (or impermeable) walls. The continuity and momentum equations were solved first, assuming the wall Reynolds number in the range of with the suction or injection of air at a speed equal to the uniform inlet velocity. The results show that at constant inlet and...
